Oak Tree with Hare

This is an old oak board that has been treated and sanded before being used. The board has a knot that made me think of a tree bole. Once the tree emerged the rest of the composition was there. It’s done in poster paste, charcoal and pastels with a hint of P.V.A. paste. Then it was oiled. The sitting hare  is part of a sequence of cards and panels. I really like the tree in this one. The grain of the wood is very effective in both the oak tree and the moon.

The way you’ve incorporated the texture of the board into the tree ‘bark’ is lovely.

There’s a bit more colour in this board. How do you choose which colours to use?
